Strata Clean Energy Scatter Wash BESS

Coffman supported Mortenson and their client, Strata Clean Energy, with fire protection consulting and Engineer of Record (EOR) services related to a 255 MW / 1020 MWh BESS project in Phoenix, Arizona. Efforts included AHJ permitting support, particularly as they relate to the APS Appendix W requirements. Coffman supported the team with AHJ interface and preparation of fire protection permitting documentation such as the Hazard Mitigation Analysis (HMA), Hazard Consequence Analysis (HCA), Emergency Response Plan (ERP), Fire Risk Assessment (FRA), Decommissioning & Stranded Energy Plan, and other evaluations required by Appendix W such as full-scale burn modeling.

Coffman’s design efforts also included underground fire suppression piping design, fixed monitor fire suppression design, and fire alarm design, including thermal cameras and wide area notification.
