Durango Resort Casino Phase II Expansion

The newly opened Durango Resort Casino, which debuted in December 2023, has quickly established itself as a premier destination in the Las Vegas area, offering a dynamic blend of entertainment, hospitality, and gaming. The property features a vibrant casino, a diverse selection of restaurants and lounges, expansive ballrooms and meeting rooms, a high-rise hotel tower, a central plant, as well as ample back-of-house facilities, and a parking structure.

Building on the success of its initial launch, the property is now embarking on a major expansion to enhance its offerings and further elevate its guest experience. The planned expansion includes:

  • Enlarged Casino Area: Expanding the casino floor to accommodate more gaming options and increase capacity.
  • Expanded Food Court: Adding new dining options to serve a wider variety of tastes.
  • Bowling Center: Introducing a family-friendly bowling facility to offer additional entertainment.
  • Miniature Golf Courses: Adding themed miniature golf courses for guests of all ages.
  • Country Music-Themed Nightclub: A unique, country music-themed venue designed to attract a new audience and offer live entertainment.
  • Expanded Back-of-House Areas: Increasing operational space to support the growing demands of the property.
  • Additional Parking Structure: Expanding parking capacity to accommodate the increased number of visitors.

Coffman is providing critical fire protection engineering support to facilitate the expansion’s compliance with all building and safety requirements with respect to fire and life safety. Coffman’s scope includes:

  • Building and Fire Code Consulting: Assessing the design of the expanded areas to facilitate full compliance with local building and fire safety codes, addressing all necessary infrastructure improvements to accommodate the larger spaces.
  • Fire/Life Safety Report: Development of the required fire/life safety report for Clark County, covering both the existing and expanded areas so that all new features of the property meet the fire and safety standards set by local regulations.
  • Podium Master Egress Drawings: Updating the podium master egress drawings to include the new expansion areas, helping to clearly define emergency evacuation routes and adhere to safety protocols.

This expansion will significantly enhance the guest experience by offering a wider variety of entertainment options and increased capacity. The larger casino, new dining options, and entertainment venues such as the bowling center and miniature golf courses will make Durango Resort Casino a more comprehensive destination for both tourists and locals. The addition of a country music-themed nightclub also provides a unique identity for the property in an increasingly competitive market. Meanwhile, the expanded back-of-house and parking facilities will support the operational needs of the property, facilitating smooth and efficient service for guests.

Coffman’s involvement will help confirm that all aspects of the expansion are built to the highest safety standards while maintaining the overall integrity and functionality of the property, helping to pave the way for continued growth and success.
