Microsoft Whatcom Village TI
Coffman provided electrical engineering services for the Whatcom Village tenant improvement on Microsoft’s new campus in Redmond, Washington. Whatcom Village consists of four office buildings totaling 900,000 sf. Coffman’s design included engineering for both the shell and core, as well as the tenant improvements for all four buildings. The project included various goals for both sustainability and carbon reduction, one of which was incorporating all-electric kitchens in the cafeterias. Of note, the all-electric kitchens required the design to accommodate a much higher electrical load at the distribution level. As these were just four buildings within a larger new campus, this project required close collaboration between engineers on all buildings to make sure the design was consistent between buildings.
