The YMCA has been in the Spokane community for over 100 years and the new Central Spokane YMCA will help continue that legacy for years to come. As a result of the very first project funding collaboration between YMCA and YWCA, Coffman was selected to join the design team for their new $17M, 88,400 sf facility complete with pools, a gymnasium, fitness areas, and community shared spaces and resources including a kitchen, café, childcare center, and meeting rooms.

Our team’s structural design included concrete masonry exterior walls, a steel-framed roof system, and a second-level hollow-plank floor and pool overlook created by a portion of a cantilevered concrete slab. The mechanical design used an advanced central heating and cooling system and efficient condensing-type boilers to heat and cool the pool. A high-performance lighting package, and proven power and communication technology, were selected for the electrical design all resulting in our client receiving LEED Silver Certification, an Avista rebate, and an Excellence in Masonry Award.
