VA VISN 22 Loma Linda Cath Lab

The Jerry L. Pettis Memorial Veterans Medical Center in Loma Linda, California is an inpatient hospital and was designed as a healthcare occupancy. Coffman provided mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection engineering design services for the renovation of the Cath Lab II (Class C Operatory Room) on the 4th Floor and an impact project on the 1st Floor of the Cardiology Clinic.

The intent of the project was to increase the square footage and upgrade a new Catherization Laboratory and accommodating spaces. Specific facility changes included the expansion of a catheterization lab, associated pre-op recovery, holding area, x-ray/catheterization equipment control, equipment staging, and storage rooms. The total renovation area is 1,375 SF and services included the preparation of engineering drawings, specifications, and plans to construct the new Cath Lab II. The project was designed to meet NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and the Joint Commission standards.

The remodel also included modifications to the existing infrastructure and structural, mechanical, plumbing, and electrical utilities. The adjacent offices and hallway to the existing cath lab were renovated to increase the square footage of the existing cath lab. The current cath lab operating room was expanded and converted into an updated electrophysiology cath lab.
