Santa Monica and Vermont Affordable Housing
Coffman served as the MEP engineering team for the new six-story affordable and supportive housing development at the intersection of Vermont Avenue and Santa Monica Boulevard in East Hollywood. The development, which opened for occupancy in 2024, is a 187-unit, mixed-use development with one-, two-, and three-bedroom units above ground floor retail space surrounding the entrance to the Metro B Line. Approximately half of the units are designated as permanent supportive housing and half of the units are affordable housing for very low-income households. The intent of the project is to renovate the Metro plaza into a mobility hub with functional transit shelters.
The project team, led by Koning Eizenberg Architecture and developer Little Tokyo Service Center (LTSC), was awarded the Southern California Association of Nonprofit Housing (SCANPH) Award in 2024.
