Rocky Reach 250 Ton Bridge Cranes

The Rocky Reach Dam is located on the Columbia River, in north central Washington, and is owned and operated by Chelan County Public Utility District. The hydroelectric dam has 11 generators, and provides clean, renewable energy for its surrounding community.

Coffman provided mechanical and structural engineering for the refurbishment of the powerhouse’s two 250-ton bridge cranes. Our scope of work included rehabilitation of the main hoist system, a complete replacement of the auxiliary hoist system, and rehabilitation of the bridge and trolley drive systems. Also included were construction aids for bridge truck installation and a fast-track design for a unique trolley pick.
