P-316 Artillery Battery Facilities

Coffman contributed to developing critical artillery battery facilities in Guam, reinforcing our engineering leadership across the Indo-Pacific region. Our multidiscipline team provided comprehensive mechanical, fire protection, and industrial design engineering services for a suite of new facilities supporting the operations of the III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF).

The centerpiece of this project is a two-story Company Battery Headquarters, designed for mission-readiness and resilience. The headquarters facility includes administrative offices, conference rooms, a maintenance shop, vehicle bays, a heavy gun shop, storage for ground and air organic units, a controlled humidity warehouse, restrooms, a nursing mother’s room, and dedicated spaces for mechanical, electrical, and communication systems. These spaces are constructed with robust, reinforced concrete components, including exterior walls, floors, and shallow foundations; all designed for long-term durability and security for personnel and equipment.

In addition to the headquarters, Coffman’s multidiscipline team engineered three ancillary facilities:

  • Automotive Organizational Shop: A single story facility featuring vehicle bays, administrative offices, a breakroom, storage, and support systems.
  • Heavy Gun Shop Storage Building: Focused on secure arms storage and maintenance.
  • Vehicle Holding Shed: Designed for efficient fleet management.

Each structure is thoughtfully designed with reinforced concrete, and integrated mechanical, electrical, and communication systems. The designs also meet stringent operational requirements including humidity control to minimize corrosion and special exhaust systems for the battery charging areas. These new facilities provide the necessary infrastructure for artillery batteries so the III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF) can effectively carry out their missions.
