Northwest Kidney Centers

Coffman worked with the owner, architect, and contractor to make major mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering (MEP) system decisions, develop the Owner Project Requirements (OPR), and schematic designs for the MEP systems at multiple new building sites for Northwest Kidney Centers. The team also prepared scope narratives for seeking subcontractor proposals for each site before the project transitioned to design-build. This “design-assist” method provided MEP subcontractor teams with well-developed information from which to generate their proposals.

Once the MEP subcontractors were onboard, Coffman’s role shifted to peer review and owner advocacy for technical issues. The team remained on the project in this role through the completion of the design. The owner then opted to have Coffman’s involvement continue through construction as the MEP commissioning authority.
