Mountain States Construction Office Rebuild

After a fire destroyed Mountain States Construction Company’s (MSCC) office building in March 2020, Coffman was engaged to provided structural engineering services for our longtime client’s new 2-story, 10,000 sf wood-framed office.

The foundations consist of a conventional shallow foundation with a concrete slab on grade. The first-floor framing features open-web wood joists with glulam and steel wide-flange girders and 3/4″ plywood sheathing with a 1.5″ gypcrete topping. The roof system includes prefabricated wood trusses and a gable-style roof with a mass timber truss canopy at the front and rear entries. The lateral system consists of wood shear walls and the CIP concrete elevator shaft. MSCC chose to leave the exposed concrete elevator shaft as an architectural feature and model for their customers to see and envision for future projects.
