McKenna Subaru

Located on the heavily trafficked Beach Boulevard in Huntington Beach, CA, McKenna Subaru is a new car dealership facility that replaced an older and smaller dealership building. Coffman provided structural engineering services for this approximately 25,000 sf dealership. The building construction consists of a steel hybrid roof with a combination of CMU walls and special steel moment frames. The dealership features a showroom, offices, a car service area, an approximately 2,500 sf parts storage mezzanine, and a service drive canopy. Steel moment frames were utilized at the showroom and service drive canopy to create an open area to display cars in the showroom and to allow several column-free lanes of travel at the canopy. Typical to Subaru dealerships, there is also a tall freestanding entryway element utilizing cantilevered steel columns.
