Kings Bay Dry Dock Recapitalization

The Kings Bay Dry Dock Recapitalization project includes major improvements to accommodate Columbia class submarines at Kings Bay Naval Submarine Base in St Marys, Georgia. The base is homeport to guided-missile and ballistic-missile submarines and will be homeport to half of the Navy’s new Columbia class submarines.

Coffman is providing civil, electrical, fire protection, mechanical, and structural engineering services. Services include the design of temporary facilities in support of the separate dry dock repair project at Kings Bay. Civil engineering services include site layout, grading, earthwork design, and utility design for seven facilities in support of the dry dock repair project. As the civil engineer on-site, Coffman acted as the prime consultant under the general contractor and coordinated all disciplines in the completion of their respective designs. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2023.
