Fort Randall Bridge Crane Rehabilitation

The Fort Randall Dam is located on the Missouri River near Pickstown, South Dakota and produces enough hydroelectric power to serve an estimated 245,000 households. The dam is complete with two, 150 ton, bridge cranes, and Coffman provided structural, mechanical, and electrical engineering design to assist with their rehabilitation and rerate. Design included main hoist, auxiliary hoist, bridge drive, and trolley drive rehabilitation. In addition, Coffman executed an FEA analysis of the trolley structure that specified structural deficiencies with the rerated capacity and recommended structural modifications to meet the rerate requirements.
