Doubleback Winery

With roots in Eastern Washington, former NFL quarterback of the New England Patriots, Drew Bledsoe, chose Walla Walla Valley to set down roots for Doubleback’s 14,000 sf winery. The new facility houses tasting rooms, offices, fermentation and lab rooms, and a barrel cellar.

Coffman provided structural engineering services to bring the owner’s vision for a modern version of the classic 8:12 roof pitch barn to life through the use of weathering steel and reclaimed wood with modern material touches like polished concrete, glass overhead doors, and window shapes.

The unique tasting room is adjustable in size and includes a rooftop patio and exterior stairway surrounded by a beautiful view. Efficient wine production is achieved through a covered crush pad, and production area that is directly gravity fed to the underground barrel room, which is climate controlled using an efficient and cost effective mechanical system.
