Yellowstone National Park Lake Lodge

Yellowstone National Park’s Lake Lodge is a log structure that welcomes guests staying at the Lake Lodge Cabins. Coffman provided structural enhancements, including a new roof, and fire protection engineering throughout the 33,750 sf historic building. The Coffman design team used their experience with historic buildings to determine the fire risk and associated mitigation strategies for the unique space.

The design provided several challenges especially in the front lobby and dining room as we did not want to disturb the original log and historic architectural features. To minimize the visual distraction, Coffman found a solution by using a couple of OSID beam detectors in each space.

The final result was a design package for an automatic detection system compatible with the building’s new pre-action sprinkler systems.
