UTC Hotel and Apartments

Coffman provided civil and structural engineering services for entitlements and site improvements for the UTC Hotel and Apartments. The hotel and residential complex includes a seven-story, 217-room hotel, a seven-story, 90-unit apartment building, and an associated two-story, 327-stall underground parking structure. Project challenges included space constraints due to the small project acreage and unique shape, large retaining walls and shoring to account for the grade difference across the site, permitting through multiple agencies, and minimizing earthwork export. Coffman also provided the site layout, grading, and stormwater management and is working closely with the design team and the City of San Diego.
