The University of San Diego’s Renaissance Plan is allocating resources into providing new buildings and revitalizing some of the most original and cherished spaces on the campus to enhance learning and elevate the student experience. The USD Learning Commons is part of the Renaissance Plan and features nine collaborative study spaces and 13 classrooms that offers the flexibility that faculty and students need for multidisciplinary instruction, seminars, small-group work and individual study at all hours of the day and night.

Coffman provided structural engineering design for the steel framed, two-story, 30,000 sf building. The building is structurally independent, but has functional connections to adjacent buildings. The outdoor space features an outdoor plaza, eastside patio, a north patio, and a café to enhance the student experience.
