San Diego Zoo Absolutely Apes

This project called for the complete remodel of the central heart of the San Diego Zoo. The enormous glass-fronted habitat features numerous trees, steel tree play structures, ropes and sway poles. Site work includes glass viewing, simulated rock walls and waterfalls, holding buildings, rock work moats and viewing barriers/enclosures. Absolutely Apes is the home for the arboreal orangutans and siamangs, which are living together in the Zoo for the first time as they would in the wild. This Asian rainforest ecosystem was the first phase of the Heart of the Zoo project.
