Rancho Mirage Rehabilitation Hospital

Coffman (as N.A. Cohen) served as the electrical engineer for the construction of a 50-room, 56,000 sf acute surgical rehabilitation hospital in Rancho Mirage. The completed facility consists of two 25-bed nursing units, a 2,500 sf physical and occupational therapy gym, dining and recreation space, a dedicated lab and pharmacy, a full commercial kitchen, administrative offices, and an activity garden and therapy courtyard. The hospital also integrates multiple sustainable design features, including locally and regionally sourced materials and a high-efficiency HVAC system.

Coffman provided the electrical design for the new hospital, which included a new 1600-amp at 480-volt three-phase electrical service for the campus with a 600KW emergency generator and three emergency branches. Coffman’s electrical team also provided the design for power distribution to each patient wing, indoor and outdoor lighting in compliance with IES, and power to all kitchen equipment and mechanical equipment. A new main distribution frame and IDF rooms were included to host all IT equipment, including voice/data, nurse call, Controlled Access, and CCTV surveillance systems.
