Martin Luther King Jr. Community Hospital Interns and Resident Physicians Building

Coffman provided structural, mechanical, electrical, and fire protection engineering design along with construction documents and construction administration services for approximate 33,500 sf of tenant improvements to the third and sixth floors of the existing Interns and Resident Physicians building at Martin Luther King Jr. (MLK) Community Hospital in Los Angeles as part of an on-call contract with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Works (LACDPW). The project scope included the addition of 25 new HVAC units for each room, as either split systems or PTAC units, and associated outside air and condensate considerations. Renovations also included the addition of ADA and non ADA restrooms and new waste piping and roof drain piping. The electrical scope incorporated new interior lighting, power, data, and select CCTV and access control. Fire alarm design bridging documents were also provided.
