Lower Yukon School District Russian Mission School

Russian Mission School, serves K-12 students in the small community of Russian Mission located on the west bank of the Yukon River. Coffman provided structural, mechanical, electrical, and corrosion control engineering for the design of a new, 32,000 sf replacement school. The structural design for the two story, steel framed facility uses insulated panel walls and roof and includes a reinforced concrete spread foundation. Electrical work included power, lighting, standby power generation, access control, fire alarm, security, and communications systems. Fire protection features include a 10,000 gal water storage tank and a 250 Kw standby generator and associated fuel storage tanks. The result? New spaces for classrooms, administration, computer lab, kitchen, gymnasium, metal shop, wood shop, and maintenance shop for current and future learners.
