Jackson Park Stage Roof
Coffman provided structural engineering services for the addition of a roof structure over the existing stage at Jackson Park in Hood River, Oregon. Commissioned by the Lions Club and the City of Hood River’s Parks and Recreation department, the project aimed to enhance the park’s usability for community events, concerts, and seasonal programming by offering weather protection and improved acoustics throughout the entire year.
The roof structure was designed as a timber-frame system using mass timber glulam beam and column rigid frame structure with Lock Deck Laminated Decking and standing seam metal roofing. Western Wood Structures fabricated the mass timber elements and a local Hood River contractor, Heuberger Construction, built the roof.
Coffman’s structural team worked closely with local stakeholders to make sure the design met both functional and aesthetic goals. The mass timber elements not only aligned with the region’s architectural character but also supported sustainability goals by using renewable materials.
