GE Wilmington Fire Alarm Replacement
Coffman provided fire protection, mechanical, and civil engineering services for the upgrade of the fire alarm system at adjacent GE facilities to be installed as a phased upgrade. The project consisted of upgrading the systems throughout the facility to new emergency communication systems (ECS) and creating a campus-wide network which shares information between panels to provide applicable messages and notifications to occupants, local responders, and municipal first responders.
The project included civil engineering work for network routing and distribution between buildings and electrical engineering for delivery of power to all new fire alarm equipment. The design development also included a risk analysis to identify strategic components of risk and provide methods of mitigation through the designed system. The design includes the development of a full fire alarm network, delineated by phase, to support a system of network fire alarm control units utilizing voice capabilities to perform emergency communication system features through each facility. Additionally, the system will integrate with Alertus infrastructure to enable distributed recipient mass notification system messaging via application notifications, desktop pop-ups, and additional beacons.
