Eareckson Repair Water
The Eareckson Repair Water, Sewer, VASI/PAPI project is located on a remote island in western Alaska. The U.S. Air Force occupies the entire six square mile island. Coffman worked with a design-build contractor to rehabilitate 5,000 feet of 8-inch cast iron water main in the area around the living quarters. The water main was rehabilitated using pipe bursting technology and the existing cast iron pipe was replaced with high density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe. In order to convey similar flow volumes, the existing 8-inch main was replaced with 10-inch HDPE. The design identified critical building services, requiring coordination with building users to minimize service disruptions.
The fast-track project was completed in less than 10 months from contract award to fully operational.
