Cross Border Xpress

Coffman provided structural engineering services on this steel framed structure that included a combination of moment and brace frames for lateral resistance consisting of a partial two level building with an approximately 61,000 sf main level and a 5,700 sf second floor. An additional 5,000 sf are planned for a future expansion.

The main level includes airline check-in, security screening, administrative and retail space along with exterior patios.

The facility, the first of its kind, allows travelers to check-in with their airline on the United States side of the border, clear customs and proceed across a pedestrian bridge that crossed the U.S./Mexico border and terminates with the Tijuana airport.
