Central Washington University ADA Transition Plan

Coffman’s civil team worked to develop a complete Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Transition Plan for Central Washington University’s (CWU) 380 acre campus in Ellensburg, Washington. Coffman evaluated paths of travel throughout the campus for compliance with ADA and Washington accessibility code. An architectural sub-consultant team evaluated accessibility at ten of CWU’s highest priority building interiors.

Coffman provided a detailed evaluation of three major corridors through campus and the paths of travel to and from these ten buildings. The evaluations were compiled in an easy to read report that documents each ADA compliance update, site maps to locate each update, code references, and recommendations for repair. A final transition plan was prepared to classify the recommendations into a prioritized list of tangible projects that will begin to bring CWU’s major facilities and pedestrian pathways into compliance with ADA code. The result will be to provide a welcoming, barrier-free campus for students, staff, and visitors.
