Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Lower Level Pharmacy
The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) Lower Level Pharmacy Expansion project is a five-phase, 11,000 sf pharmacy remodel with high-security requirements and USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800 compliance. Coffman oversaw the construction of Phases I and 2, and redesigned Phase 3, which added a double-tunnel air handler unit and required power extension from the central plant, establishing a new emergency equipment branch.
This lower level pharmacy expansion will serve the entire medical center campus. To maintain pharmacy operations during construction, a temporary UPS 800 compliant pharmacy was constructed. The new construction incorporates a sterile pharmacy, manual fill room, Swisslog Pill Pick, Swisslog Pneumatic Tube system (transfer units) involving new carrier units where tubes can be sent throughout the campus, an OmniCell Carousel, temporary sterile compounding space, and new exhaust tower for the ducted hoods. Phases 4 and 5 are anticipated.
