Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Lower Level Pharmacy

The Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (CSMC) Lower Level Pharmacy Expansion project is an 11,000 sf pharmacy remodel with high security requirements and USP 795, USP 797, and USP 800 compliance which will supply the entire CSMC campus. In order to keep the pharamcy open during business hours, the project occurred over five phases, incluidng the construction of a temporary UPS 800 compliant pharmacy and the new construction of a sterile pharmacy, manual fill room, Swisslog Pill Pick, Swisslog Pneumatic Tube System (transfer units) involving new carrier units where tubes will be sent throughout the campus, and an OmniCell Carousel and temporary sterile compounding space with a new exhaust tower for the ducted hoods.

Coffman oversaw the construction of Phases 1 and 2, and redesigned Phase 3 which added a double-tunnel air handler unit and required power extension from the central plant, establishing a new emergency equipment branch. The project also included the new construction of a research pharmacy which was subject to HCAI approval. Phases 4 and 5 are anticipated and will be incorporated into the design at that juncture.
