Bali Hai Villas Electrical Power Master Plan

Faced with increasing utility costs and restrictions on back-feeding PV power to the grid, the Bali Hai Villas condominium association contracted with Coffman to provide an electrical system master plan that included evaluation of modifications to infrastructure and metering that could impact their total utility expenditure. Coffman evaluated onsite power generation and storage, off-grid operation, utility tariff, load growth, LV to MV conversion, and developed an energy and cost model to help the client understand the potential benefits of the modifications on a Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) basis. Modeling was based on high-resolution utility interval data and included onsite Photovoltaic (PV) power generation, battery energy storage analysis, expansion and change of use of the facilities, the feasibility of creating a microgrid, equipment sizing comparisons between grid-tied and off-grid options.
