Torrey View

Coffman provided structural engineering and acoustic consulting services for the 520,000 sf Torrey View life science research campus in Carmel Valley. The development features three steel-framed buildings, each four to five stories high, housing state-of-the-art laboratories, offices, and various amenities. On-site amenities include a 400-seat conference center, restaurant, bar, cafe, juice bar, library, lounge, fitness center, yoga studio, spa, bike and surfboard lockers, showers, media and conference rooms, and more. The 10-acre campus also includes a partially underground 1,400-stall concrete parking garage with a landscaped green roof, pedestrian and bike pathways, and extensive outdoor gathering areas.

The acoustic scope of work involved surveying ambient noise levels on and around the project site. Coffman developed acoustical design goals and recommendations to address exterior noise intrusion from roadway and aircraft traffic, mechanical system noise and vibration, sound isolation between spaces, and acoustics within common areas such as conference rooms.
