The Charter Hotel, a Hilton Curio Collection Hotel

Located in the heart of downtown Seattle, this new, 24-story boutique hotel houses six levels of underground parking, as well as a rooftop lounge that features spectacular views of historic Pike Place Market and Elliot Bay. Coffman provided structural engineering, mechanical peer review, and smoke control special inspection services for this 260,000 sf tower. The vertical force-resisting system for the building consists of post-tensioned concrete slabs spanning between concrete columns with concrete shear wall cores being utilized for the lateral-force resisting system. The foundation system consists of a concrete mat slab, with micropiles being used to resist uplift forces.
