Spokane Gun Club Relocation

As part of the entitlement process for moving the Spokane Gun Club’s Shooting Range, Coffman’s acoustical consulting team conducted a noise study to assess the potential for noise impacts on the surrounding land uses of the new site. Short and long-term ambient sound level measurements were conducted in the site vicinity. Additionally, test gunfire was measured at specific distances to use as input for the sound modeling.

Using conceptual design details and the gunfire noise data, a sound model was constructed. The model was used to produce sound level contours that show how the sound level drops off as the distance from the shooting areas increases. The results of the modeling and measurements were compared with the local regulations. At residential property lines in the project vicinity, levels from gunfire did not exceed the local regulation limits.
