Mountain View Elementary

Mountain View Elementary school had the vision to meet the needs of diverse learners by creating a positive school environment. Originally built in 1956, the school needed a renovation to better serve its staff, students, and visitors. Coffman performed civil, structural, mechanical, and electrical design services for the renovation.

Civil design focused on safety and thoughtful design of traffic circulation through a dedicated bus loop separate from the curbside parent drop off, a new crosswalk, and a separate staff parking lot. Electrical design included upgrades to the power distribution system, replacement of aging power panels and feeders, telecom, and security upgrades, as well as new interior exterior and interior, LED lighting system, and control system providing teachers with flexible classroom lighting.

Due to the age of the building, structural seismic evaluation and strengthening in accordance with building code resulted in a retrofit that included the addition of internal masonry wall reinforcement, structural metal stud walls for lateral support, reinforcement of roof framing for seismic loads, and new building access ramps.
