Old Macy’s Downtown Seattle Adaptive Reuse

Coffman provided fire protection engineering for the adaptive reuse of the lower levels of the old Macy’s building in downtown Seattle, Washington. Coffman’s role was to help with the change of occupancy on the lower levels and to provide services related to shafts throughout the building. In the first project, Coffman assisted with code consulting and negotiation with the Seattle Department of Construction and Inspections regarding opening and shaft protection. In the second project, Coffman worked with the building manager on the protection of the shafts on the upper floors of the building.
