Coffman Engineers is pleased to Welcome Jared Birmingham to Orange County.

Jared Birmingham, PE joined us in our Orange County office where he is focused on expanding our fire protection services and team in the LA-OC Region.

Jared has 17 years of experience providing building/fire code consulting, fire protection, and life safety system design concepts for a wide range of complex building and occupancy types.

Jared specializes in developing innovative, performance based design solutions for egress challenges associated with large and densely populated assembly occupancies. Additionally, he has developed a niche for projects with restricted egress considerations for occupancies in restrained environments, such as inmates in detention facilities, amusement ride guests, and medical facility patients who may be incapable of self-preservation.

Jared started his career in Boston, and before moving to Orange County, he worked on casino resorts in Macau, China — home to some of the world’s largest buildings. Jared attributes much of his success over the years to the early lessons in collaboration and teamwork he gained from working on these big projects — lessons that he continues to practice and promote today.

Jared holds both a Masters in Fire Protection Engineering and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He is a licensed fire protection engineer in two states, and a member of the Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) and the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Additionally, Jared was a recipient of the Consulting-Specifying Engineer (CSE) “40 Under 40 Award” in 2016.

Outside of work, Jared enjoys spending time with family and friends, playing golf, ice hockey, baseball, and all things outdoors.

Jared will be working with Steven Dannaway and four other fire protection engineers to further develop Coffman’s fire protection capabilities in the LA-OC Region. He will also be focused on expanding our local client base and recruiting top talent to the fire protection team.
