Jon Arenz, PE

Meet Jon

Jon is a civil engineering principal at Coffman and joined the San Diego office in 2020 to start the local civil department. As his coworkers will tell you, Jon manages the civil department with a mix of levity and strategic focus that results in a fun atmosphere that efficiently executes on projects.

He is a registered engineer in four states with experience in higher education, life science, commercial, residential, municipal, hospitality, and Federal projects. In addition to excelling at project management, civil engineering design, permit processing through various government agencies, and leading design teams of developers/owners and multiple consultants, Jon is proficient in grading and drainage, hydraulic and hydrologic calculations, plan preparation, and client management.

Jon is involved in the local San Diego community through the Building Industry Association, where he acts as a mentor to younger professionals in the industry, as well as serving as a Board Member on the University Community Planning Group in the University City area of San Diego.

After growing up and going to school in Michigan, Jon began his career in Chicago, then relocated to California and has been living in San Diego since 2008. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
