Meet Craig
Craig Sakanashi, SE, is a structural engineering principal advisor in Coffman’s Honolulu office. He joined Coffman in November 2022 as part of the asset purchase agreement with Shigemura, Lau, Sakanashi, Higuchi & Associates, Inc. (SLSH). Craig advanced to a vice president and principal of SLSH after starting as a junior structural engineer in 1981.
Craig has 40 years of experience in a wide variety of projects. He has developed a vast knowledge of numerous software application programs to determine the most cost-effective structural solution to any specific requirement. With his experience in using various building materials, including reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, structural steel, heavy timber, and concrete masonry, all of our projects benefit from his involvement by attaining cost-effective designs.
Craig’s current role as principal advisor encompasses his continued efforts to foster client relationships, maintain quality control and project progression, and transition his engineering skills and knowledge to less experienced staff through direct instruction and mentoring relationships.
Craig graduated from the University of Hawaii and obtained a Bachelor of Science and master of science degrees in civil engineering, with his master’s emphasizing structural engineering.
