MEET COLIN
Colin Kodama, SE is a principal and licensed structural engineer in Hawaii and the Pacific Regional structural department manager. He has extensive experience in structural engineering design and analysis, project management, construction administration, and structural special inspections. His portfolio includes commercial buildings, educational and healthcare facilities, retrofit and renovation projects, tenant improvements, civil infrastructure designs, and bridge inspection and repair for private sector clients and city, state, and federal agencies.
Colin is recognized not only for his technical expertise but also for his commitment to building strong, high‑performing teams. He fosters a collaborative environment grounded in trust, open communication, and shared accountability. By mentoring emerging engineers, encouraging cross‑disciplinary coordination, and empowering team members to take ownership of their work, he cultivates a culture where people feel supported and motivated to deliver their best. His leadership approach strengthens project outcomes and reinforces a resilient, people‑centered practice.
Colin has successfully designed and managed projects from conceptual design through construction completion, bringing a practical, detail‑oriented approach that supports constructability, code compliance, and long‑term performance, providing clients with thoughtful, resilient structural solutions. In addition to project delivery, Colin is a member of the Structural planning committee supporting companywide discipline collaboration.
Colin is actively involved in the profession through leadership and committee service with the Structural Engineers Association of Hawaii. He is passionate about mentoring emerging engineers and regularly supports education outreach, university engagement, and career development initiatives.
Outside of work, family is Colin’s priority and he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, traveling, and staying active through golf and fishing, especially kayak fishing in Kailua.
A 2007 graduate of Kamehameha Schools, Colin holds a BS and a MS in Civil Engineering from Santa Clara University.
