Meet Brian

Brian is the managing principal for Coffman’s Bay Area Region, including the Oakland and Bay Area office locations. In this role, Brian focuses on exploring new business opportunities in the Bay Area and growing the local multidiscipline capabilities. Brian is also an experienced fire protection engineer and provides clear fire engineering strategies to meet project and client goals while satisfying code demands. He develops effective and efficient strategies with the design team to meet project objectives and subsequently coordinates with local building officials to gain approval. He has demonstrated his skill through the management of a wide array of projects, ranging from large-scale historic adaptive reuse to dynamic public assembly to tech office campus projects. His analysis helps to preserve architectural and/or historical integrity while providing safe solutions. These solutions include available options within the prescriptive code and viable alternative options that fit the needs of the project’s economic, environmental, and innovative goals.

Brian attended the University of Maryland, earning a bachelor’s and master of science degree in fire protection engineering. He is active in code development, including his role on the City and County of San Francisco’s Code Advisory Committee. Brian is a registered fire protection engineer in California and Washington.
