Wolf Creek Transformer Upgrade
Coffman provided structural engineering consultation and design services for the seismic analysis of large transformers, anchorage design, and lateral/gravity design of heavily loaded bus ducts and cable trays at the Wolf Creek Powerhouse hydroelectric facility in Jamestown, Kentucky. The deliverables for this 1920’s cast-in-place concrete dam project included seismic load application and anchorage design, a calculation package, a set of anchoring and attachment details, and two site visits to observe installation. The Coffman team worked with the contractor to use prefabricated housekeeping pads to support the electrical equipment, and provided construction assistance through completion of the project.
