Savoonga Reindeer Facility Design

The remote community of Savoonga, on Saint Lawrence Island in Alaska, is a traditional indigenous Yupik community deeply rooted in a subsistence lifestyle. Coffman played a pivotal role in managing the design and construction of a crucial reindeer processing facility for Savoonga Reindeer Commercial Company on behalf of Kawerak, Inc.

The modular processing facility, designed and built by Finnish company Kometos, a specialist in food processing equipment and modular facilities, will not only stimulate economic growth but also reinforce the subsistence lifestyle of Savoonga residents. This facility is poised to enhance local economic activities while preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Yupik community.
