P-491 Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Compound Facilities
The new Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Compound Facilities at Naval Base Guam (NBG) showcase Coffman’s commitment to engineering design excellence. As the lead for mechanical, telecommunications (RCDD), and fire protection engineering, Coffman provided a comprehensive suite of design solutions for this major design-build project supporting both the Navy operations and the Guam community.
Coffman facilitated the design of an armory building, operations buildings, maintenance facility, and a multipurpose/training facility—each purpose-built for EOD Mobile Unit Five (EODMU-5). Every design decision focused on enhancing mission readiness and rapid response capabilities for Seventh Fleet operations.
The mechanical systems feature dehumidification, air conditioning and ventilation, efficient plumbing, and under slab radon venting, designed for optimal indoor environments for training and operations. Coffman’s telecommunications experience provided reliable cabling for both NIPRNet and SIPRNet, with secure distribution systems to safeguard sensitive information. The team also integrated comprehensive security features, including access control, intrusion detection, CCTV, and intercom systems.
Coffman’s fire protection engineering services included code analysis, detailed life safety drawings, and performance-based fire sprinkler and alarm systems. The team also conducted inspections and verified all life safety systems for each facility confirming the Navy received code compliant and operational life safety systems.
