Byron is a principal advisor with Coffman and together with Bob Libby was integral in establishing our fire protection engineering department in 2014. Byron now spearheads Coffman’s multidiscipline effort in the hospitality sector.
He has more than 45 years of experience in the fire protection field starting as a “backstep” firefighter in a large County fire department. While a firefighter, he earned a bachelor of science in fire protection engineering from the University of Maryland and later an MBA from Marymount University.
Byron has more than two decades of experience in the hospitality and lodging sector, including extensive experience in the renovation of existing hotels. He has been involved with hundreds of hotel fire protection and life safety projects and has participated in the development of technical brand standards as well as long term, portfolio capital expenditures planning.
He is a former member of several National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) committees.
