In the early 2000s, Gonzaga’s basketball program established itself as a perennial mid-major contender on the national stage. The team had outgrown their intimate, but outdated basketball court. Coffman provided the electrical and lighting design for a brand-new, 111,000 sf, 6,000-seat arena. The new facility maintains the sense of intimacy, while being fit for fans to watch the Zags continue to succeed and grow as a team.
The Zags’ arena won an Excellence in Masonry Award from the Masonry Institute of Washington in 2005, as well as a Design Citation Award from the Architects Institute of America, Spokane Chapter in 2006.
