North Idaho College Technical Education Building

In 2017, enrollment in North Idaho College’s career technical programs was rapidly increasing and there wasn’t enough instructional space to keep up with demand. Coffman provided mechanical engineering for the new $20 M, 109,500 sf  Career Technical Education Facility to accommodate incoming students in programs such as diesel technology, collision repair, welding, HVAC, and more.

To accommodate instructional activity in this facility, mechanical systems include specialty exhaust for welding booths and vehicles, compressed air, and emergency plumbing fixtures with close attention to safety and acoustics in classrooms near the shops. The College is now preparing more students with the education and skills they need for their careers and this project won the 2017 Outstanding Project Award by Learning by Design’s Architect & Interior Design Awards.
