Franklin Elementary has been in the Spokane school system for over 100 years and is even on the National Register of Historic Places. The aged building was becoming outdated and offered an unproductive use of space. In 2015, voters decided it was time for an update and approved a bond to renovate the building, much to the thrill of students and teachers. Coffman Engineers provided electrical engineering services and added much needed lighting to the old building that helped create a modernized section of the elementary school while complementing the 110-year-old architecture.
Electrical design of a remodel and addition to a 60,000 sf historic elementary school. The school has 23,646 sf of remodel space and 49,480 sf of addition on multiple levels. Coffman provided electrical service and power distribution, interior lighting, telephone/data, fire alarm, audio-visual for classrooms, sound systems for gym and multi-purpose rooms, intercom-clock, and access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance. Design for exterior lighting for walkways, parking lots, and drop-off areas. A back-up generator will power egress lighting, fire alarm, etc.
