US Embassy Nouakchott, Mauritania

Coffman Engineers provided civil engineering services for the final design of the US Embassy Compound in Nouakchott, Mauritania. The compound is situated on 10.5 acres in the capital city of Nouakchott and includes a chancery office building, US Marine Residence, warehouse, perimeter security, access pavilions, recreation facilities, and a utility building.

Coffman provided the design of the following utility systems: stormwater, sanitary sewer, domestic water, fire sprinkler/protection, fire hydrant, and fuel. Challenges with the design of the project included a high groundwater table and highly corrosive soils.
