Mt Carmel High School Central Plant Retrofit
Mechanical and plumbing engineering design was provided for a new chilled and hot water central plant at Mt Carmel High School. The goal was to completely remove the existing central plant and provide an all-variable water cooled chilled water plant. The team decided that this would be the easiest to maintain and would support the campus’ wide range of operating conditions.
Two 300-ton McQuay Turbocor chillers were installed as the heart of the chilled water loop. Four two-million btu/h boilers were installed for the heating hot water loop. The project team spent a significant amount of time during startup assisting the controls contractor in tuning the sequence of operation in order to have an efficient plant that runs through all operating conditions.
Work was completed as ABBOTT Engineering.
