Harborview Noise Modeling

Coffman performed acoustic modeling of traffic noise sources for a proposed development. The development aims to add five new buildings to a vacant lot, including office spaces and amenities such as a gym and coffee shop. Outdoor spaces were planned for the interior courtyard between the buildings. The buildings offered shielding from the traffic noise, so no outdoor usable space was impacted by high traffic noise levels.

The modeled images showed noise level contours as they radiated from the highway adjacent to the proposed project. The scope of work included an environmental noise impact assessment based on traffic from a highway adjacent to the development site, measuring existing ambient levels from the environment and local traffic, and modeling traffic noise impact on the site. The model showed certain high noise façade locations, which may require improved windows.
