Banco Popular Puerto Rico

Coffman provided fire protection engineering and life safety code consulting services for Banco Popular Puerto Rico in Hato Rey, Puerto Rico. The project involved constructing two buildings on separate sites: the Plaza site and the Bridge site.

The Plaza site building is a 17-story high rise that includes Banco Popular offices, a training and development center, leasable office space, five above-grade parking garage levels, four AC by Marriott guestroom floors, amenity spaces for both office and hotel use, and retail space on the ground floor.

The Bridge site building is an 11-story high rise that includes a grocery store and other retail tenants on the ground floor, eight above-grade parking garage levels, and a fitness center with outdoor fitness areas and an outdoor pool on the top two floors.

Coffman’s services included developing life safety drawings and conducting multidiscipline design reviews. Coffman also provided smoke control modeling for the stair and elevator pressurization systems in both the Plaza and Bridge buildings using CONTAM and developed the rational analysis required by the IBC.
