New high-tech communications and emergency operations center for CHP and CALTRANS for the Los Angeles area. A five-story 70,000 sf steel-framed structure adjacent to a major earthquake fault. Protective technologies for this high performance essential services facility that aim to keep it undamaged and operational after a major earthquake include Seismic (Base) Isolation and Energy Dissipation (Dampers). Coffman Engineers was the consultant responsible for the design of the seismic isolation/damping and lateral force resisting system for this critical regional facility.

2006 SEAOSC Excellence in Structural Engineering Award winner, Best Use of New Technology in New Construction.
